What school supplies do I need to buy for my child?
Students at Education Imagine Academy would need basic supplies you might already have at home. You would need something to write on and something to write with to take notes, work problems and a way to organize your school materials. Supplies for K-8 students that you would not already have at home will be provided in a box from Pearson.
What are the benefits to students?
Your child will be given accessibility, flexibility, and assistance which provides the opportunity to be prepared for his/her next level of education. This means your child will receive a personal attention from teachers, learn in a safe environment, and have a quality education that helps each student achieve his or her highest potential.

What is the role of the guardian and teacher?
Teacher interaction is limited compared to a regular education classroom. In the learning management system, BUZZ, lessons are provided by multiple modalities and reinforced by EIA licensed teachers via Microsoft Teams. Teachers are also available for additional learning opportunities in-person and online.
All students in grades K-5 are required by our program to have an adult aged 18+ at home with them to assist as a Learning Coach.
What kind of interaction would my student have with other students?
EIA offers multiple types of interaction for students. Tuesdays from 9AM-2PM, students are able to attend in-person learning opportunities with their teachers and classmates. Additionally, EIA offers online interactions during the school day on Microsoft Teams. We also provide field trip opportunities for our students monthly.

What supplies are needed?
Students should have access to the items on the district school supply list for use at home.
Some extra materials may be needed for activities such as science experiments, art projects or portfolios, but are usually readily available in the home.
EIA will supply students with a device with internet, workbooks, and any other curriculum-specific materials needed.

How much time should my child plan to spend on schoolwork each day and what percent of it is computer-based versus paper-based?
Our experience with successful students indicates that students should plan to spend approximately six hours, five days a week working on schoolwork. This does not have to be completed during the normal 8:00AM-3:00PM timeframe. EIA students have the flexibility to work any time during the day or night, but should be aware that teachers do work druing the normal timeframe and may not answer communication until normal business hours.

What are the roles of the guardian and teacher for an EIA high school student?
Teacher interaction is limited compared to a regular education classroom. In the Edgenuity system, lessons are provided via video by a licensed teacher, but not the ones employeed by USD 259. The EIA teachers are available for additional assistance online and in person. They grade coursework and teach in person Wednesday afternoons.
Parents at the high school level are an important part of the student's team. They can help students develop structure for their school day. Regular monitoring of the student's progress is important for student success.
We are teammates, so do not be afraid to reach out to us if you have questions or concerns about your child.

What does a high school schedule look like?
EIA students are scheduled with a math class and Advocacy course that are a semester long and three additional classes that are nine weeks long every nine weeks. That equates to be a total of eight credits each year. We find that students are able to be more successful with fewer classes on which to focus.
Can my student work at their own pace?
Grades are issued for nine week courses at the end of the nine week grading period and semester courses at the end of a semester grading period. Students are required to complete 7% weekly of their semester long courses and 14% weekly of each nine week course.
Students are welcome to work ahead in their classes. They can use the time to extend their breaks or build in flexibility if they have something planned in their life. Students who have completed their classes and have a desire to move faster should speak with the counselor.
